NBGH Physician Receives Red Cross Lifetime Achievement Award
New Britain [June 13 2006] -
David Krugman, M.D., of Avon, senior attending physician in the hospital’s Pathology Department, recently received an American Red Cross award recognizing a lifetime of dedication to that organization’s mission.
The Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Red Cross Connecticut Blood Services Region was presented May 30.
A longtime blood donor, Dr. Krugman got involved in the Red Cross organization more than 35 years ago. He has served on the boards of directors for the organization’s New Britain Chapter and Connecticut Blood Services Region. He has also served on donor recruitment and search committees and belongs to the Red Cross Speakers Bureau.
Dr. Krugman organizes three to five blood drives annually at the hospital, and he established and publicizes the Labor Day blood drive – the only drive in Connecticut held that day. He recently did a public service announcement for the Red Cross’ Charter Oak Chapter.
“Dr. Krugman’s commitment to the American Red Cross mission is unprecedented,” says Elaine Bruemmer of the Red Cross’ Connecticut Blood Services Region. “The Red Cross recognizes the countless hours, weeks, years he has unselfishly given to this organization and to Connecticut hospital patients.”
