Hospital of Central Connecticut honors nursing staff members

New Britain [May 29 2013] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut honored three nursing staff members May 16.

Southington resident Meghan Brennan, R.N., B.S.N., a nurse at the Bradley Memorial campus in Southington, received the Viola Larson Memorial Award. New Britain resident Amy Farr, nursing technician, N3 unit; and Canton resident Catherine LaBrecque, R.N., B.S.N., CCRN, Critical Care Unit, New Britain General campus, received Excellence in Patient Safety Awards.

Brennan, a nurse at Bradley for nearly six years, was recognized for her clinical expertise, leadership, professional development and compassion, and respect for patients and co-workers. The Viola Larson Memorial Award is named for the hospital’s former vice president of nursing.

Brennan was specifically honored for her work with the hospital’s Congestive Heart Failure Initiative, willingness to take leadership roles and the many compliments she’s received from patients and family members for her skill and empathy.

LaBrecque was honored for her work to improve patient safety, including helping to implement new patient lift equipment and enhance responses to patient emergencies on nursing units.

Farr was recognized for her extensive efforts to help prevent pressure ulcers and her commitment to enhance the safety and quality of care, and patients’ experiences.
