New Southington primary care office accepting patients

Southington [July 09 2012] - A new primary care office is open in Southington and accepting new patients.

W. Richard McQueen Jr., M.D., has joined The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s medical staff and practices at Doctors of Central Connecticut’s new office, 55 Meriden Ave., Suite 1D. It is next to the hospital’s Bradley Memorial campus.

“We are thrilled to respond to our community’s need for more primary care specialists in Southington, and we are delighted to welcome a physician with Dr. McQueen’s expertise and credentials,” said Clarence J. Silvia, president and chief executive officer of The Hospital of Central Connecticut, which owns and operates Doctors of Central Connecticut (DOCC).

McQueen practiced primary care in New Orleans for 12 years, most recently as a physician with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, New Orleans, and as medical director of Loyola University Student Health Center. McQueen earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, and completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, Atlanta.

On Wednesday, July 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. Doctors of Central Connecticut will host an open house for the community at 55 Meriden Ave. Guests will meet McQueen and Southington-based DOCC physicians Joshua L. Rock, D.O., a cardiologist, who in early August will open an office at 55 Meriden Ave. (860-276-5107); and neurologists Philip Micalizzi Jr., M.D., and Robert S. Thorsen, M.D., 51 North Main St. (860-621-1896).
