Hospital offers free, four-part workshop series for cancer survivors

The Hospital of Central Connecticut will offer Cancer Transitions—Your Life After Treatment, a free, four-part workshop series on nutrition, exercise, medical management and emotional well-being for cancer survivors.
Workshops will be held April 9 and 23 and May 7 and 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the hospital’s New Britain General campus, 100 Grand St. Registration is required, (860) 224-5299. Free parking and a meal will be provided.
For the first time, the series is being offered to men and women who have completed treatment for any type of cancer in the past two years. Expert speakers and panelists will include social workers, nutritionists, nurses, physicians and fitness trainers. Though recommended that participants attend all four sessions, it is not required. The session schedule is:
Session One - April 9 “You are a Survivor...Now What?” Covers emotional well-being
Session Two – April 23 “Getting Moving After Cancer Treatment” Covers exercise/rehab
Session Three - May 7 “Nutrition for Healthy Survivorship”
Session Four - May 21 “Medical Management into Survivorship” Featuring oncology physicians
All sessions are facilitated by Donna Boehm, RN, MSN, MPH, program director for the hospital’s George Bray Cancer Center.
