New Britain [March 18 2008] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s spring Health Wisdom Lecture Series starts April 16 and features free lectures on diabetes, eating disorders and nutrition on the go.

All lectures are in the New Britain General campus cafeteria. Lectures begin at 6:30 p.m., with light refreshments at 6:15. Lectures are free, but reservations are required. For more information and to reserve a seat, call 1-888-224-4440.

The 2008 spring lectures are:
Wed., April 16, “Diagnosis: Diabetes Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance”: Join Michael Radin, M.D., an endocrinologist with the hospital’s Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate, as he examines and explains these syndromes, which can cause or contribute to difficulties in controlling diabetes.

Wed., May 14, “Bulimia, Binging and Beyond”: Eating disorders are quite complex, and growing more common. Melissa Santos, Ph.D., will review the history and causes of major eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating.

Wed., June 11, “Grabbing Nutrition on the Go”: Everybody’s busy these days. So how do you eat fast, and still eat well? May Harter, R.D., will offer time-saving tips to help you eat healthy on the fly without sacrificing taste or convenience. You’ll also sample savory recipes.
