Hospital of Central Connecticut President Named to National Council

Hospital of Central Connecticut President and CEO Laurence A. Tanner has been elected to the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Section for Metropolitan Hospitals governing council.
Tanner will serve a three-year term on the council, which comprises 25 members from hospitals nationwide. The AHA’s Section for Metropolitan Hospitals provides representation; advocacy and educational opportunities to help the nation’s suburban and urban hospitals better serve the health needs of patients and communities. The Section’s governing council advises the AHA on federal policy issues.
In addition to serving as Hospital of Central Connecticut president and CEO, Tanner is president and CEO of the Central Connecticut Health Alliance, an integrated health system of acute care, long-term care, home health care, and behavioral health services, including The Hospital of Central Connecticut; chairman and a trustee of Jerome Home, a not-for-profit multi-level care facility, New Britain; and director, president and CEO of CenConn Services, Inc., a for-profit affiliate.
Tanner received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and his MPH from Yale University in 1972. He chairs the board of trustees of the Capital Area Health Consortium, an association of several healthcare organizations, including The Hospital of Central Connecticut, which works to improve healthcare services for North Central Connecticut; and also chairs the board of directors of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce.
