Hospital, Credit Union to Hold Cancer Screening Program Registration
New Britain [February 16 2007] -
The Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program at the Hospital of Central Connecticut will hold a registration Saturday, Feb. 24, 10 a.m. – noon at the Polam Federal Credit union, 46 Broad St., New Britain. All women are invited.
Women will be able to sign up for the early detection program, which aims to increase early breast and cervical cancer screening, particularly for uninsured or underinsured women. The program offers many breast cancer services free, including office visits, screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast biopsies, breast ultrasounds, fine needle aspirations, and clinical breast exams.
The Polam Federal Credit Union hosted a similar event last October; 60 women enrolled in the early detection program.
“We’re grateful to Danuta Sieminski, vice president of Polam Federal Credit Union, for helping us coordinate this event,” said Diane Walczok, early detection program case manager. “Some of the 60 women we enrolled in our program last year told their friends about it, and we registered 13 more women after the event.”
