Hospital Auxiliary Announces Scholarship
New Britain [January 30 2007] -
The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Auxiliary has announced that it is accepting applications for The Kathleen Boudreau Scholarship. The $500 scholarship is designed to encourage high school seniors who are interested in a nursing career. This is the sixth year the scholarship has been awarded.
The scholarship was created in memory of Kathleen Boudreau by her daughter, Marleen Boudreau Flory, of St. Peter, Minnesota, through the Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Boudreau was born in Ireland in 1919, and grew up in Long Island, New York before relocating to New Britain. Kathleen completed her LPN degree at Hartford Hospital and worked in New Britain convalescent homes for several years. Kathleen volunteered at New Britain General through the 1970s and ’80s.
Applications packets can be obtained by calling the volunteer office 860-224-5231 or at your local school high guidance office. The deadline is June 8, 2007. One high school senior will be selected and announced by a screening committee in July.
To apply, students must submit a completed application to the volunteer office at either the New Britain General or Bradley Memorial campus of the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
