Low-sugar Holiday Cooking Lecture Scheduled
New Britain [October 16 2006] -
The Joslin Diabetes Center at The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s New Britain campus will present its free monthly community lecture on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006
Patricia O’Connell RD, MS, diabetes nutrition educator, at the Joslin Diabetes Center, and Guy Malley, Manager, Food Operations at the Hospital will present a Holiday Cooking Demonstration. Sample foods from healthy recipes that you can use at your holiday gatherings. Address your concerns about getting through the holidays and maintaining blood sugar control.
There are now 20.8 million children and adults in the U.S. with diabetes. It is estimated that between 5 and 10 percent have type 1 diabetes, while 90 to 95 percent have type 2 diabetes.
