Neonatologist Joins New Britain General Hospital
New Britain [December 21 2005] -
Scott A. Weiner, MD, a neonatologist, has joined the staff of New Britain General Hospital.
Before joining New Britain General, Dr. Weiner completed a three-year fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he also conducted research on cystic fibrosis and pharmacologic interventions for that disease.
Dr. Weiner received a BA from New York University and his MD at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv. Returning to the United States, he performed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Weiner is board certified in pediatrics.
“I know I speak for the entire department of pediatrics in welcoming him to our hospital and community,” said Antoinette M. Capriglione, MD, chief of pediatrics and director of nurseries. “I look forward to a continued evolution of the services we provide and some new collaborations with our University partners in the areas of evidence-based standards of care and clinical research. Given his fine education and training, I know Scott will be instrumental in building on our solid foundation of excellent newborn care.”
Dr. Weiner continues his affiliation with Yale University School of Medicine as an adjunct faculty member and attending physician in the level 3 neonatal unit, specializing in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation — a therapy reserved for critically-ill infants with respiratory failure due to lack of oxygen.
Dr. Weiner lives in Cheshire, with his wife, Anat, and their 3-year-old son, Matan.
