Classes and community programs

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers numerous classes, lectures and community programs on a variety of health topics. Visit the Calendar page for updated offerings and contact information.

Classes include: CPR

CPR Family and Friends - Adult & Pediatrics - Knowledge and practical experience for those who want to be better prepared to handle a life-threatening emergency. This course provides a thorough orientation to CPR but does not credential or certify individuals.

Heartsaver CPR - Similar to CPR Family and Friends, with additional requirements for the lay rescuer to obtain credentials documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

Heartsaver CPR - AED - For corporations, agencies and facilities that have first responder teams with Automated External Defibrillator capabilities.

First aid

Basic First Aid - To credential individuals as first responders in community, school or workplace settings. Participants will learn the skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and immediately care for injuries and sudden illness.

Day Care Provider - Appropriate for home or facility daycare providers, this course credentials participants in first aid and safety skills. An additional medication administration component is also available.

Babysitting course

This is a course for teenagers 11 to 15 years old. Participants will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants through school-age children.

Vaccinations

The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers immunization for influenza, pneumonia, meningitis and hepatitis at both campuses and other community locations during the year. See the Calendar section for dates and times.

The hospital offers a variety of support groups for people with
  • Breathing problems
  • Various types of cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • And other conditions
