Technology and care
We're using wireless phones and mobile computers to enhance patient care.
Many of our care providers on the New Britain General campus carry hospital wireless phones that will not interfere with medical equipment. These wireless phones allow nurses to immediately share information with each patient's doctor, the hospital pharmacy, lab and other departments. This technology allows nurses to make or receive calls from anywhere in the hospital without making repeated trips to a central nursing station.
W.O.W.s
(Workstations On Wheels)
With these mobile computers nurses at the New Britain General and Bradley Memorial campuses can wheel a computer right into the patient's room and access information that was gathered during admission, as well as medical records and details of past tests and treatments.
Nurses can also enter important information on patients' conditions and treatments right on the spot.
The wireless phones and W.O.W.s are just two of many initiatives at The Hospital of Central Connecticut designed to enhance patient safety and help us deliver care more efficiently.
