Treatments

With your evaluation results, we'll create a treatment program based on your unique needs. This program will include regular Wound Care Center visits to provide treatment, evaluate progress and make any needed changes.

You (or your caregiver) will be given detailed instructions in home care, dressing (bandage) changes and protecting the wound from further injury.

The Wound Care Center offers the latest treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) - a painless, non-invasive treatment that uses pressurized oxygen and can be beneficial in
  • Wound healing
  • Preservation of damaged tissues
  • Infection control
  • Increased blood vessel formation
Treatment is painless, non-invasive and has limited or no side effects for most patients. Each treatment usually takes 90 minutes to two hours; the number of treatments you'll need depends on your condition.

During therapy, patients relax in the see-through chamber, which circulates 100 percent oxygen at two to three times atmospheric pressure. Patients may listen to music, watch TV, nap or talk with staff during treatment. A hyperbaric medical team closely monitors patients.

For more information about HBOT at the Bradley Memorial campus, call the Wound Care Center,
(860) 378-1400.
