Take Off
Take Off is a medically monitored, very low - calorie diet program using grocery food and/or liquid meal replacements. It promotes rapid weight loss and includes behavior modification, nutrition education, physical activity and psychosocial support. Many medical problems (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol) may be significantly improved with the expected weight loss.
Thomas Lane, MD, is the program's lead physician. He has many years of experience with very low-calorie diets and pharmacologic therapies for obesity. He not only monitors your progress, but works with your primary care physician to adjust your medications and therapies as required by the changes your weight loss brings.
Before enrollment you will be expected to participate in an initial assessment with a registered nurse. Once medically cleared, you will meet weekly with medical clinic staff to monitor your progress. You will also attend CORE, a 12-week program taught by a registered dietitian and an exercise physiologist. Additional medical testing (e.g., EKG and blood work) may be necessary throughout treatment.
