Carlos A. Barba, M.D.
Carlos A. Barba, MD, is an associate attending physician with the Department of Surgery, specializing in bariatric surgical procedures, including laparoscopic and open gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Barba is a designated Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence surgeon by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is also an associate professor of surgery at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Barba earned his medical degree from the University of Panama, completed his residency at the McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and his fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. David L. Giles. M.D.
David Giles, MD, is a physician and surgeon with a specialty in bariatric surgical procedures. Before joining The Hospital of Central Connecticut, Dr. Giles worked in the Department of Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he was an assistant professor of clinical surgery.
After receiving his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Giles completed residencies in internal medicine and general surgery at Case Western Reserve University, and fellowships in surgical critical care, surgical research, and trauma at Hartford Hospital from 1996-98. Thomas J. Lane, M.D.
Thomas J. Lane, MD, FACP, has been medical director of the Department of Health Promotion at The Hospital of Central Connecticut since 1994. He is also director of the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics at the hospital and associate professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Dr. Lane received his bachelor's degree from State University of New York at Albany and his MD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His interests are obesity management and medical teaching. He is in practice at the hospital, 1-866-668-5070.
