Neurosurgery

Spine and neurosurgical care

The experienced neurosurgery staff at the Hospital of Central Connecticut uses the most advanced technology and techniques to treat a wide variety of neurosurgical conditions, ranging from spinal conditions to brain tumors.

Back pain typically affects eight out of 10 people at some point in their lives, and low back or lumbar pain is the most common. Many spinal conditions can be treated conservatively with physical therapy, steroid injections, and other pain management techniques, but surgery is sometimes needed.

Our neurosurgical expertise ranges from common surgical procedures for herniated disc repair to advanced spinal surgery techniques, including disc implants. Other complex procedures include tumor removal and spinal fusion to stabilize a spine that has narrowed or become unstable.

Patients recovering from complex surgical cases begin their recovery in the hospital and continue with a physical therapy program affiliated with a rehabilitative facility or home therapy program.
