Robotic surgery at HCC

Guests at The Hospital of Central Connecticut Auxiliary's 2010 Chrysanthemum Ball had an opportunity to try the new da Vinci® Surgical System.

Urologist Joshua Stein, M.D., expertly manipulates the da Vinci controls during a robotic assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
The da Vinci surgical arms, fitted with instruments, are precisely controlled by the surgeon sitting at a nearby console.

The surgeon views a magnified, high-resolution image of the surgical site.
Gynecologic Oncologist Clare Zhou, M.D., performed the first robotic hysterectomy at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in October 2010.

The da Vinci system can be used for gynecologic cancers and other, non-cancerous conditions.
