Mammography
A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. A screening mammogram is used to detect breast changes in women with no breast cancer signs or symptoms. A diagnostic mammogram checks for cancer after a lump or other possible sign of breast cancer is found.
Depending on mammogram results, the physician may want to take a biopsy, or tissue sample, for a closer look.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut offers screening and diagnostic mammograms as well as a variety of biopsy procedures at its New Britain General and Bradley Memorial campuses and some other locations. Click a topic at left to learn more about procedures offered and procedure locations.
