The Hospital of Central Connecticut's outpatient Dialysis Unit is staffed by nephrologists, nurses, a dietitian, social worker and other healthcare professionals. The hospital also provides services to patients who are on peritoneal dialysis at home or in an extended-care facility.
Additional services
In addition to dialysis, the unit offers plasmapheresis, a specialized procedure that lowers the amount of plasma in the blood to treat blood disorders.
Along with medical care, the hospital's Dialysis Unit provides support services, including an individualized patient education program and a renal patient support group. A community-wide pre-dialysis education program gives patients and their family members peace of mind before they begin treatment.
