Left ventriculogram
This is a procedure similar to the coronary angiogram in which the same catheter is re-positioned and used to inject contrast dye into the left chamber of the heart. This procedure shows how well blood is being pumped through the heart to the aorta, the major blood vessel leaving the heart. The cardiologist later reviews and interprets blood pressure measurements, the angiogram, and the ventriculogram to determine how well the heart is functioning and whether blockages are present which may require surgery.
