Hospital offers free weight loss surgery information sessions

[May 03 2013] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut's Center for Metabolic Health will host several upcoming weight-loss surgery information sessions at no cost.

Session leaders will be bariatric surgeons Carlos Barba, M.D., FACS, and David Okolica, M.D., FACS, medical director of the hospital's bariatric surgery program.

Upcoming sessions are 6 p.m. on May 22 and June 26 at the Center for Metabolic health, 11 South Road, Farmington; and at 6:15 p.m. May 21 and July 23 at the hospital's Bradley Memorial campus, 81 Meriden Ave., Southington.

Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedures offered at the hospital include gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric band and revisional surgeries. The hospital's bariatric surgery program is recognized by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
