Hospital of Central Connecticut manager receives "Above and Beyond" award

[May 03 2013] - Waterbury resident Cathy Mangini, R.N., clinical manager of The Hospital of Central Connecticut's Pediatrics Unit and Family BirthPlace, recently received the Above and Beyond award from the Mill Foundation for Kids, Inc.

The award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in their daily duties to enrich the lives of sick children and who consistently exceed the expectations of their peers and patients, according to the Southington-based foundation.

The award was presented March 16 at the foundation's annual Shamrockin' for Kids dinner dance at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Mangini has worked at The Hospital of Central Connecticut (formerly New Britain General Hospital) for over 30 years and is an "outstanding guide and resource to the Pediatric Department and a vital member of the hospital team," said Nagwa Khadr, M.D., the hospital's chief of Pediatrics. "She makes sure that patients and their families experience exceptional care while in the hospital, each and every time!"

The Mill Foundation for Kids is dedicated to brightening the lives of ill children by purchasing toys and other gifts that are donated to The Hospital of Central Connecticut and other area hospitals.
