Hospital of Central Connecticut welcomes physicians

[February 20 2013] - The Hospital of Central Connecticut welcomes these physicians:

Bariatric Surgery
David H. Okolica, M.D., FACS, earned his medical degree at New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y. He completed a general surgery residency at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was also a chief resident. He also completed a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa.; and a bariatric surgery fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa. For the last three years, he practiced bariatric and general surgery at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, Pa. He joins Hartford HealthCare Medical Group as medical director of Bariatric Surgery at The Hospital of Central Connecticut Center for Metabolic Health, 11 South Road, Suite 130, Farmington, 860-224-5433.

Justin T. Montanye, M.D., earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College, Albany, N.Y. He completed a rotating internship and neurology residency at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y.; and a clinical neurophysiology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. Before joining MidState Medical Group in 2011, he practiced at Cayuga Neurologic Services, Ithaca, N.Y. As part of Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, he practices at MidState Medical Group, 455 Lewis Ave., Suite 221, Meriden, 203-694-8550.

Pediatric hospitalist
Aliya Shamsi, M.D., FAAP, earned her medical degree at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, India. She had pediatric training at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom; and completed a categorical pediatrics residency at University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Most recently, she practiced outpatient pediatrics in Hartford. She has been a clinical instructor, University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She practices at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Louis Petcu, M.S., M.D., FACS, earned his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a surgery internship, otolaryngology residency and was a chief resident of Otolaryngology at Yale-New Haven Hospital/Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. He also earned a master’s degree in biochemistry from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia. He is medical director of the Ear, Nose and Throat and Allergy Clinic, The Hospital of Central Connecticut. Most recently, Petcu was in private practice for 17 years with offices in Holyoke, Mass. and Enfield, Conn. He is a senior clinical instructor of otolaryngology at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston.
