Hospital of Central Connecticut launches gyn cancer support group
[July 30 2012] -
The Hospital of Central Connecticut in September will launch a free support group for women with any type of gynecologic cancer, including ovarian, uterine/endometrial, cervical, peritoneal, vulvar and others.
The group, open to women statewide, will meet the second Monday of each month, 6-7:30 p.m., at the hospital’s New Britain General campus, 100 Grand St., New Britain. Upcoming dates include Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Registration is requested, (860) 224-5299. Free parking will be provided in the garage next to the hospital’s main entrance.
The group will be facilitated by Maureen Bracco, APRN, and ovarian cancer survivor/advocate Cheryl Holmes, who has served as an officer of the CT National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The group will provide a place where women can share their issues and raise questions about how cancer impacts them as women -- physically, emotionally and spiritually.
