Databases

Cochrane Library of Evidence Based Medicine: A collection of seven separate databases containing reliable, evidence-based information on the effects of interventions in health care. Reliable information, from other systematic review abstracts, technology assessments, economic evaluations and individual clinical trials.

eMedicine: Clinical knowledge based information for physicians and other healthcare professionals that are reviewed in a four level process. Covers over 7,000 diseases and conditions.

MedlinePlus: Consumer health website created by the National Institutes of Health, the National Library of Medicine and other government agencies. Information on over 700 topics on conditions, diseases and wellness.

Medline/Pubmed: Free service of the National Library of Medicine containing over 15 million citations for biomedical articles dating back to the 1950s. Includes links to numerous full-text articles.

Healthcare Standard Directory Online: Easily searchable titles of healthcare standards, clinical practice guidelines, and laws and regulations.

Natural Medicine Database: This database provides extensive clinical information on herbal and non-herbal natural medicines.

CME Resources

CME lectures: Connecticut State Medical Society/Graduate Education Foundation sponsored online library of over 125 multimedia lectures accredited by ACCME, AMA and AOA covering 18 medical and surgical specialties.

Audio-Digest: Search the Web site and earn AMA Category 1 PRA credits or CE credits from many specialty areas. Download podcasts onto an MP3 player, or sign out the library’s audio-digest CDs in the General Surgery, Internal Medicine or Ob/Gyn series and complete a test form available from library staff.
