Admission
Admission requirements and selection criteria
- Graduation from a P.A. program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- Baccalaureate degree or higher
- National certification by the NCPA. New graduates may be accepted pending successful completion of PANC exam
- Official transcripts from colleges/universities and P.A. program
- Copies of BLS and ALS certifications
- Current curriculum vitae
- CT state P.A. licensure and controlled substance registration (Failure to obtain either voids residency training offer.)
- Three letters of recommendation. For new graduates, one must be from their program director.
- Personal interview
- 2 personal essays: One explaining what applicant expects to gain from the residency; the second explaining personal strengths and weaknesses.
Selection criteria
- Strong interest in general surgery
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as noted by essays and personal interview
- Excellent letters of reference
- Strong academic ability
- Exceptional ability to function within team model
