United Healthcare/Oxford Health Plans
March 14, 2008
To our patients:
I’m writing today to provide you with an update on our relationship with United Healthcare, including Oxford Health Plans. I am pleased to tell you that we have reached agreement on a new contract with United, effective April 1, 2008. This means that you will continue to have uninterrupted access to the doctors and nurses you are familiar with at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General and Bradley Memorial (HCC).
HCC has always been dedicated to providing the highest quality care to the people we serve. A big part of this mission is protecting the relationship between the patient and the caregiver. The last thing we would ever want is for you to have to endure a disruption in that relationship. Thankfully, we have avoided this situation this time.
Every year, our hospital faces cost increases, just like other businesses. We rely on fair reimbursement from insurance companies like United to keep pace with the increasing cost of providing care. Fair reimbursement means we can continue to provide the high-quality care that you expect and deserve.
We regret any anxiety or uncertainty this contract negotiation may have caused you and your family. Please know that we appreciate your patience and support over the last several weeks as we worked to reach an agreement that would best protect our relationship with our patients.
Sincerely,
Laurence A. Tanner
President and Chief Executive Officer
