People scheduled for a hospital surgical admission or ambulatory (one-day) procedure are referred to one of The Hospital of Central Connecticut's Preadmission Testing (PAT) centers.
Your PAT visit will include:
- A health and medication history screen
- Education about the hospital facility and policies
- Instructions on preparing for surgery
- A review of equipment that may be used during your hospitalization
- A pain management discussion
- Discharge planning
- An interview with physical or occupational therapy personnel, or staff from other services, as needed
- Blood work, EKGs and X-rays, according to your doctor's orders
