HUSKY Plan changes

Effective March 15, 2009, the Hospital of Central Connecticut participates with two plans for Husky.

The two Husky plan options are:

  • Community Health Network
  • AmeriChoice by Unitedhealthcare
The Hospital of Central CT does not participate with Aetna Better Health at this time.

As of February 1, 2009, The Department of Social Services no longer offered Blue Care Family Plan or Husky Traditional as a plan option under the Husky Program. Former Blue Care Family Plan members or Husky Traditional who have not already selected a new plan have been assigned to a default plan.

Patients who would like to continue to receive elective (non-emergency) care at the hospital or our clinics, need to be enrolled in either Community Health Network or Americhoice. Patients may switch plans by calling 1-800-656-6684. Enrollment changes take about a month.

Patients have the sole right to select their health plan. The hospital cannot tell them which plan to choose. We can only inform our patients as to which plan the hospital participates with and is able to provide non-emergency services to.

We will, of course, continue to care for all patients who come to our emergency department.
