New Britain General campus
Hospitalists are physicians trained and board-certified in internal medicine who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. Many community physicians trust The Hospital of Central Connecticut's hospitalists to provide excellent care for their patients.
How the service works
If your physician uses The Hospital of Central Connecticut's Hospitalist Service, a hospitalist will care for you during your stay at the New Britain General campus.
Patients whose primary care physician does not admit to the hospital are also cared for by the Hospitalist Service.
Your primary care physician and hospitalist will communicate regularly about your condition and treatment.
Your physician will be notified of your discharge and given information he/she needs for follow-up care, including any changes in your medications and results of tests done during your admission.
Benefits
A hospitalist or physician assistant can be at a patient's bedside in minutes for emergencies.
Treatment decisions can be made quickly, in consultation with the patient and his/her family members.
Hospitalists can visit with patients or family members any time during the day.
