Admitting Emergency Dept Patient Representative (24hr Nights)

Position Duties:
  The Emergency Department Patient Representative obtains/verifies complete and accurate ED patient information to ensure a positive hospital experience, while maintaining the integrity of the hospital’s financial base.

Responsibilities:

Prepares and processes all admission documents in compliance with department standards and hospital policy and government regulations.

Interacts with families of deceased patients to obtain necessary signatures for release of bodies

Register and admits patients.

Explains hospital policies and procedures to patients and/or significant others

Identifies special patient needs and refers to service areas as appropriate

Obtains patient information in Ed treatment rooms and in ED area.

Interacts with payors and health care providers for the purpose of acquiring accurate information.

Performs newborn registrations on third shift

Performs other duties as assigned or necessary
Educational Requirements:
  High School diploma or GED. At least one year of customer service experience. PC and data entry skills.
Minimum Requirements:
 
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • PC skills required.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Computer knowledge and strong typing skills.
  • Must be available to orient full-time on the day shift for at least 4 weeks.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
     
  • Previous health care experience preferred.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Capacity to relate to patients of all cultural, socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Hours:
      24hrs per week; 10pm-7am Including every other weekend & Holiday
