Physician Assistant - Ortho, Dept of Surgery

Position Duties:
  The P.A. performs clinical tasks and functions traditionally performed by physicians. Within their area of competence, the P.A. participates directly in the care of patients under the responsibility of a licensed physician. The P.A. in the Department of Surgery carries out such tasks as approved by the Chief of Surgery, with the advice and consent of the Staff Executive Committee.
Educational Requirements:
  Graduation in good standing with a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree, from an AMA accredited physician assistant training program and successful completion of the NCCPA certifying exam. Current CT Physician Assistant license. –OR-Current CT MD license AND enrolled in a surgical residency program. Additionally, P.A.s are expected to act in accordance with any current Connecticut legislation governing the licensing and practice of P.A.’s. Maintain Connecticut Control Substance Registry and DEA certification.
Minimum Requirements:
  Current CT Physician Assistant license.

Current Connecticut Control Substance Registry
Current DEA certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Orthopedics is a plus
  • Critical-thinking skills, problem solving skills and communication skills
  • Responsiveness to patient and clinical needs - Customer service focused
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Ability to work on teams and to provide leadership to groups
  • Personal responsibility and motivation for seeking opportunities for professional development
  • Hours:
      Full time - day shift including weekends and on call
