Admitting Patient Representative (Per Diem)

Position Duties:
  Patient Representatives obtains and enters complete and accurate patient information to ensure a positive hospital experience, while maintaining the integrity of the hospital’s financial base.

Responsibilities:
-Greets patients and helps maintain a timely patient flow through the system
-Gathers and enters all patient demographic and insurance data necessary to complete a patient registration
-Collects co-pays
-Explains financial requirements to patients/responsible parties and instructs as to payment procedure when required
-Obtains all necessary signatures and initiates documents for service for scheduled admissions
-Follows verification processes, including completion of state application for Medicaid in the absence of the DSS worker located in the hospital
-Prepares set-ups for all admitting paperwork for scheduled admissions to ensure prompt service on day of procedures
-Visits patients on hospital units for additional follow-up information
-Performs all newborn registrations
-Completes bedside registration on nursing units when a patient is directly admitted and unable to register in the Admitting Office
-Interacts with other hospital departments, carriers and physician offices for the purpose of acquiring accurate demographic and insurance information
-Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
  High School diploma or GED. At least one year of customer service experience. PC and data entry skills.
Minimum Requirements:
 
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • PC skills required.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Computer knowledge and strong typing skills.
  • Must be available to orient full-time on the day shift for at least 4 weeks.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
     
  • Previous health care experience preferred.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Capacity to relate to patients of all cultural, socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Hours:
      Various Hours and Shifts Including weekends and holidays
