Emergency Department expansion
New Britain General campus
We continue to welcome support for the expansion and renovation of our New Britain General Campus Emergency Department (ED). Thank you to those who have already given so generously to this important project.
ED visits have steadily increased in the past decade, to more than 70,000 annually. Growth is expected to continue.
The $6.5 million ED expansion and renovation project includes:
- An additional 10,000 square feet and 11 beds (for a total of 45 beds)
- Private rooms instead of beds separated by curtains
- Rooms that will be multi-functional vs. single purpose (e.g. trauma, Ob/Gyn)
- Updated equipment, including technology allowing transmission of X-ray and CT scan images to physicians, providing them better access to the information they need to treat patients
