About us

The hospital's George Bray Cancer Center established the Oncology Clinical Research Program 20 years ago. More than 15 physicians, including medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, participate in the clinical research program. The Center is involved in numerous National Cancer Institute-sponsored studies and serves as a Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) parent institution, overseeing four affiliate institutions:
  • Baystate Health Center, Springfield, MA
  • Hartford Hospital
  • Sinai Medical Center, Baltimore, MD
  • UConn Health Center
The Center is also an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) affiliate of Johns Hopkins University; is an affiliate of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) under the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center; and enrolls patients in the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) protocols. The Center is also actively involved in several pharmaceutical sponsored trials.

Mission

To conduct high-quality research focused on further advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. We aim to raise clinical trial awareness and participation by increasing access to clinical oncology trials and educating patients in the local community.

Additionally, we strive to build our reputation as a major regional cancer research center committed to providing quality care, while offering a wide variety of trials among various cancer types. We also work to provide numerous educational opportunities for patients, staff, and the general oncology community.
